The carbon fibre face masks are back as underdog franchise Army of TWO returns for a newly announced third game this week.
Today the press release is in and the fan base is booming as EA’s bro-mance double team hits the development cycle again with Army of TWO™ The Devil’s Cartel. The third instalmant of the blockbuster coop shooter franchise will see players take control of two new characters in the Army of TWO universe.
Visceral Games, the award winning development team behind the critically acclaimed Dead Space series hopes to bring the series back to its roots with an all new playable characters, a darker more immersive story and more customization than Vanessa William’s wardrobe. Players will find themselves in the boots of Tactical Worldwide Operation operatives Alpha and Bravo as they take on the mean streets of Mexico and attempt to fight their way out of drug filled gang war that is destroying the country from the inside.
“We wanted to refresh the Army of TWO franchise for a new generation of action gamers, and at the same time, stay true to the core concept that really made the first two games fan favourites,” said Julian Beak, Executive Producer, Visceral Games. “With meaningful, seamless co-op gameplay at its core and explosive new tag-team features, gamers will have to work together tactically and strategically as they push through a city dominated by one of Mexico’s deadliest drug cartels.”
Steve Papoutsis, General Manager of Visceral Games, added, “Our goal with Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel is to apply our key design principles – immersive, challenging gameplay, intense narrative and focus on quality – to help improve a franchise we feel has always had a lot of potential.”
As fans may notice, series regulars Salem and Rios seem to be taking a back seat to the story this time after the luke warm reception of the last sequel 40th Day saw the duo come to an interesting conclusion by the game’s end.
Players can be happy to know though that Salem and Rios will be part of the new instalment’s plot, this is backed up by the fact that the new characters also work for the original characters newly founded mercenary company.
Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel will be available in March 2013 for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system.
