Ascension: Arenas of War Closed Beta Launch

The closed beta launch of Ascension: Arenas of War has been announced by Ludorum Studios. It will be the first title from the studio, and it has been in development since October 2011. It looks as though it will be released this year (as in, in the next three months) for the PC. Looks like Mac users are out of luck again. Oh well. You could always console yourself by counting down the days until the iPhone 6.

Yes, I know the iPhone 5 was just released, but since we all seem to have the memories of goldfish, I want to make it clear that a new iPhone is released every year. In the meantime, I’m going to start rumors about the iPhone 6, or to put it in journalistic terms, I’m going to “speculate.” The new iPhone 6 has a blender in it, for when you want a smoothie on the go. It also causes non-Apple technology within its vicinity to catch fire, so you have to keep it in a lead-lined case when in public. I’ve also heard that the iPhone 6 will now actually be able to make phone calls. Isn’t technology wonderful! (Disclaimer: this is just the word on the street.)

Ascension: Arenas of War hopes to combine the tension of FPSs with skill-based classes and team cooperation to achieve objectives. It will include different game modes such as EMP Mode, Upload Mode, and Virus Mode. In the last mode, players upload viruses to terminals to take points away from the other team.

It will have classes such as the Juggernaut, Scientist, and Hacker. I always see the humanities underrepresented in modern games. Where is the Art Historian or the Interpretive Dancer? The Interpretive Dancer could distract enemies with his representative piece on modern consumerism, and while enemies try to sort out the meaning behind his moves, the Juggernaut can sneak up and steamroll them. That game would be so fun.
