Atari 2600 Game Sold For Thousands

Atari 2600 games these days are rare, but not quite as rare as the game Chase The Chuckwagon, which at one point was thought to be the rarest of them all. Since then many have been discovered, and what was once thought to have only been a few, ended up being many. As more and more of Chase The Chuckwagon copies were found over time. Atari collectors haven't had much since then to sink their eager teeth into, but that's now changed as a forgotten legend has recently surfaced in a mere garage sale.

Rare Atari games are always coming up here and there, with many people claiming they've found the new "Holy Grail" of games. And it doesn't stop with the Atari 2600, most of the past consoles and games have had their historic moments, with many collectors looking for rare or unique version of a certain title. It's been known for a few of these so called "Holy Grail" games to go for about $50,000 on various auction websites. Like a repeat of history, its all happening once again with the resurface of Red Sea Crossing.

For starters, Red Sea Crossing was thought to never have existed at all. Of course that was proven wrong in 2007 when a copy of it and another rare title were discovered in a meager garage sale. These games were tough to find when they were first released, so its easy to imagine why everyone is up in arms about the whole thing now. Soon after the news exploded on the internet, their were still non-believers, until a keen-eyed researcher from AtariAge found an old advertisement for it. The ad was confirmed through various local libraries who were featuring the very same ad, bringing about the fact that Red Sea Crossing actually exists.

Upon seeing the masses so shocked, the owner smartly sought out an expert to give him the facts about what his item was worth. He went straight to the AtariAge forums, and made a post about what he had discovered. Once everything had been confirmed, the experts toyed with the idea of putting the game up for auction, The idea stuck, and not soon after the game was official up on GameGavel.com, for the first time in history. The auction recently closed down at a massive $10,400, which is the highest amount paid ever for a "loose" Atari 2600 game.

In celebration of the sale, the auction site GameGavel.com is opening up free listing to anyone who believes they have a rare product to sell, until October 31st this year. If you've found something rare, and don't want to deal with the pesky fees of high-tier auction sites, then GameGavel is your place to go.
