BAFTA Game Award Nominees Announced; The Last of Us leads with 10 nominations

BAFTA (The British Academy of Film and Television Arts) have announced the nominees for their video game awards. As you might expect, Naughty Dog‘s The Last of Us leads the way with 10 nominations. To put that in perspective BAFTA has 17 video game categories, so The Last of Us is well represented and is position to clean house once again.

Grand Theft Auto V isn’t far behind though as it is represented in 9 different categories. We shall see if Grand Theft Auto V can maybe steal a few few awards from The Last of Us. We shall see in March, March 12th, in London.

Here is a full list of the categories and nominees, oh yeah and just as an FYI there will be odds next each game. These are just my own little odds I’ve come up with, I don’t think books actually have odds on video game awards. This is nothing official, It’s just a little bit of fun. The-Last-of-Us-vs.-GTA-V-for-BAFTA-Best-Video-Game

So, there we are. As mentioned above, these awards will be given out in London on March 12th. Just looking over these awards, the surprise to me is Tearaway getting nominated quite a bit. Media Molecule is based in the UK, so perhaps a little home cooking. Not to say it doesn’t warrant some of these nominations, it’s just a surprise that they are nominated 8 times.

Also, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, BioShock: Infinite, Super Mario 3D World, The Stanley Parable, and Papers, Please all had 4 nominations themselves. When you put it like that it surprises me even more that Tearaway got as much traction as it got. It’s pretty amazing.

So, that’s about it. All that’s left is what do you guys think. Who do you think will win some of these awards? Who do you WANT to win? Will the Last of Us continue piling up the awards? Let us know your thoughts using the comment section below.
