Darksiders 2 is looking to be one epic game and this couldn’t be proven more by its recent release of “The Last Sermon” love action trailer.
It has no doubt been a hard time for publisher THQ who has been suffering a long and arduous trudge through money and stock problems from lacklustre game sales and poor choices like the UDraw tablet.
It is great to see that the company is in no way backing down though through the high budget advertisements for this summer’s blockbuster sequel of 2011’s sleeper hit. With a chilling performance from Jeo Mormont of Game of Thrones, THQ pull out all the stops once again with the live action trailer that has everyone talking.
Filmed in the center of Czech Republic (give or take fifty feet), the team behind the trailer travelled to the small town of Uherce to film the spooky church scene while wielding the less than appealing cold temperatures to their adventure to set the stage for the trailer’s atmosphere.
Hammer Creative writer and producer Brett Hocker states “Darksiders 2 is a very big, epic, sprawling game and we wanted to do justice to that by creating an epic live action piece that really conveys the gravity and tone of the game”. Hammer Creative are known for their other well receive trailers for other games like Batman Arkham City and Crysis 2.
“This script just flew off the page, it was right there” said actor Jeo Mormont. “There are fallen angels, demons, strange things and fantasy creatures flying around us. It’s a vision of Hell on Earth“.
Darksiders 2 is set during the same time period as the first game with the second horseman of the apocalypse ‘Death’ riding into the fray to clear his brother’s name for the crimes he didn’t commit.
The first game saw War convicted of starting the end of days and then sent back to Earth to find those responsible for the crimes placed on him. Knowing his brother as the most honourable and incorruptible of the four horsemen, Death takes it upon himself to put an end to the conspiracy.
