Fellow Deus Ex fans our day has come! Today CBS Films, producers of films like Beastly and The Woman in Black announced that they are officially working on a silver screen adaption of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
With Game-to-film adaptions suffering from a long and faulty history of crushing video gamer’s dreams, it is actually a nice change to see a producer promise to work together with a developer for once on such a beloved franchise.
Terry Press, co-president of CBS Films, said: “As is clear from the wild success of the game, Square Enix and Eidos Montreal know how to exceed their audience’s expectations by engineering incredible worlds. No one knows Human Revolution like the team that created it, and we look forward to working with them from day one to make a film adaptation worthy of the ‘Deus Ex’ name.”
This brings forth a ray of hope especially with the inclusion of Disney’s upcoming video game movie ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ which features a batch of classic video game stars like Bowser, Solid Snake and Qubert. In a way the success of the re-rise to fame for the first person shooter/ RPG franchise has allowed a movie adaption to be especially tantilizing.
Square Enix Europe CEO Phil Rogers added: “As the millions of fans who have played the ‘Deus Ex’ games for more than a decade will tell you, these games catapult you into a universe that is stimulating, engaging and relevant. We’re firm believers in building strong partnerships, and so we’re thrilled to be working with CBS Films on bringing the unique ‘Deus Ex’ experience to the big screen.”
Interestingly enough this information comes into the media after a ‘Behind the scenes’ video made its way on to Youtube early this year.
The video shows the recording of stunts and fight scenes for an upcoming ‘Live Action Adaption’ that features the main character of Human Revolution.
Could this be real footage from the CBS adaption? Only time will tell.
