Electronic Arts and Crytek announced new multiplayer content for Crysis 3. The Lost Island DLC pack features four brand new breathtaking maps, two new gamemodes –Frenzy and Possession, and some deadly new weapons. Starting June 4th, players can download the new content on Xbox Live for 1200 Microsoft points, or on the PC and PS3 for £11.99.
“The gameplay in the Crysis series has always been deeply connected to the unique environments in which the action takes place,” stated Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “By transporting players out of the Liberty Dome and into the Lost Island setting, we’re not only returning toCrysis’ spiritual roots, but also introducing fresh ways to play that provide Crysis 3 fans with genuinely game-changing new tactical options, game modes and weapons.”
What are the two new game modes you might ask? Well it was genuinely difficult to find information, even on the Crysis 3 website. However after scouring the internet I found descriptions for each:
“Frenzy adds a new dimension to deathmatch, a cycling weapon loadout every 60 seconds keeps tension high as players can only respawn during the next loadout change. An intensifying radar sweep keeps track of every move. Only the most skillful Hunter will win.”
“In Possession, players secure the single objective flag for the longest time in order to win, but once the flag is secured they become the hunted, permanently tagged in the enemies HUD. Possession also boasts a team based variant, where co-ordination and teamwork will ensure victory.”
As for the narrative, the Lost Island DLC traces a mysterious alien presence discovered on a small island in the Philippines 200 miles from Ling Shan. Rebel forces have been dispatched to destroy this unknown extraterrestrial entity before the CELL team obtains its power.
