Today Madrid FIFA and presenting partners EA SPORTS and PlayStation were happy to publicize the kick off to FIWC 2013, with participants able to take part in this year’s tournament online via PlayStation Network by joining EA SPORTS FIFA 13 on their PS3.
The Grand Final venue was allowed for the fans to decide for the first time via a public voting, empowering the community to be involved in the FIFA organization of this year’s tournament. The winner of the voting was Madrid, ahead of both London and Rome. Alfonso Ramos, the reigning champion, will now have the opportunity to defend the title at home.
To overlap with new, FIFA has released the survey results of over 10,000 FWC players from all over the world which showed that Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is the footballer that most fans would like to play FIFA 13 versus. 25 percent of those surveyed chose 2011 FIFA Ballon d’Or winner, followed by the spectacular pairing of Cristiano Ronaldo (19 percent) and Wayne Rooney (10 percent) who set at second and third place respectively.
Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal was voted the most popular celebrity outside of football that fans would like to play against by receiving 13 percent of the votes. Rafael Nadal narrowly beat out United States president Barack Obama (12 percent) and Hollywood Actress Angelina Jolie (9 percent).

Next saying, “Together we are eager to continue the incredible growth of this event, building on the 1.3 million players who compared last year. The Player vote on the grand Final venue is a great example of the research we conduct amongst the FIWC community in order to align the strategic development of the tournament with their preferences and expectations. I look forward to welcoming the finalist in Madrid in May.”
The FIWC will be the largest online gaming tournament in the world and is the official FIFA tournament offering football fans to opportunity to interact with other football fans and live out their obsession. With the 2013 season under way, participants can now compete to qualify for this year’s Grand Final. The winner will win $20,000, an invitation to the FIFA Ballon d’Or to meet the biggest stars of the world football and a host of events they would never forget.
