Most, if not all, video games come with their own set of problems; and FortressCraft is no exception. Players might have gotten word that patch 10 and 11 for the best-selling indie game on Xbox Live were released sometime this week but may not know exactly how these patches fix those pesky bugs and glitches and improve gameplay.
Patch 10 addressed a few problems and even polished some areas of the game. First off, Patch 10 made it so that FortressCraft can support 32 players; quadruple the amount of players on Minecraft. Server load is now auto-balanced, increasing the speed of the client’s load times, and client side build lag has nearly been reduced to nothing. Improvements have also been made on Spleef mode’s graphics and gameplay. Players are now able to configure their servers without quitting the game. Patch 10 also eliminated the personal teleporter bug and fixed the reflections in the water among other minor problems.
In hopes of releasing soon for the PC, developer DJArcas has been working hard. Patch 11 followed close behind Patch 10, focusing more on fixing troublesome bugs rather than releasing new content. That isn’t to say that there won’t be any new features that the players could look forward to in the game. Patch 11 brings the Fillsphere command, to create hollow spheres; flying diggers and builders; and removes exploding diggers.
Unfortunately, there are some new issues that have arisen such as copy/pasting losing its preview (most likely due IDs being taken from the fast build/caulking/rebuild). The server flag text also appears a bit bunched up. DJArcas is looking into a handful of solutions to fix these problems to help the game run more smoothly.
But don’t fret. DJArcas is working hard in order to update and improve the players’ experiences in FortressCraft. Everything from split-screen working to the physics and graphics are constantly being innovated to ensure an enjoyable experience.
