Free-to-play Soul Calibur: Unbreakable Soul hits iOS

Crazy swords and destructive title weapons have come crashing to the iOS App Store in the form of Soul Calibur: Unbreakable Soul, a free-to-play installment of the Soul Calibur series.

Namco Bandai Ltd. have announced that Soul Calibur: Unbreakable Soul is now available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users, transferring Soul Calibur’s traditional insane-weapon-based combat to mobile devices.

The combat, described as combining fast-paced action with easy use, will be card-based and in full 3D. It only requires a single finger to use, though it remains to be seen how a card-based system will translate to an action-packed series such as Soul Calibur.

An entirely original title, Soul Calibur: Unbreakable Soul sees players search for fragments of the series stalwart Soul Edge blade, alongside Cassandra and the ‘Edge Master’.

Players can amass over 150 avatars including plenty of Soul Calibur mainstays, and over 200 weapons allowing players to build their own custom battle plans and styles. The inclusion of elements also adds a more strategic touch to the combat to really keep players thinking about their tactics.

As expected, the game also includes player versus player battles and an online ranking system displaying records of players from all over the world.

Soul Calibur: Unbreakable Soul is now available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch in the US and UK, amongst other players, entirely free.
