Gamers looking to explore a science fiction world through a space-ship, trade and deal with aliens, or fight against a menace that threatens a galaxy than a planet haven’t found too many games on the console that fit this description. Fortunately Fishlabs Entertainment released Galaxy on Fire 2 on the iPhone and iPad with great success due to its free-form game-world and 3D visuals. Now Galaxy on Fire 2 is getting an HD remake, and is being released on BlackBerry Playbook for $9.99.
In the game you play as Keith T. Maxwell, the hero from the first game. A malfunction in his ship warps him 35 years into the future, where he finds the galaxy in chaos from four major factions fighting for dominance. Another faction of aliens known as the “Voids” raid cargo ships and convoys of the four factions for unknown, malicious purposes. Galaxy on Fire 2 will let players explore a vast universe with 20+ star systems; 100 different space stations; and over 30 fully mountable space ships. All characters are meant to have full voice acting, and there are an infinite number of freelance missions.
The action-based space trading game was released to the iOS in October 2011 with great success, with several reviews praising the game-play and 3D visuals. Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs Entertainment, is very happy to release the game to the BlackBerry users in an HD remake. ” We have put a lot of work and effort into the porting of the game and are more than happy with the result. Galaxy on Fire 2 HD is definitely one of the most ambitious games on the App World and we’re sure that the PlayBook users will have just as much fun with the title as the iPhone and iPad gamers,” says Schade.
I’m reminded of the old space-trading games on the PC before my time when hearing about this game. Anyone that has played and loved games like Space, Pirates, and Zombies or Space Rangers 2: Reboot on the PC might like this game. Plus anyone that owns a BlackBerry PlayBook would be getting a new, awesome game to play that they might have missed out on last year.
