If you weren’t able to purchase Game Dev Tycoon previously because you didn’t have Windows 8, well now you’ll soon be able to buy it for your PC or Mac. On the 21st of August, indie game developer “Greenheart Games” was pleased to announce that their unique game developer sim called “Game Dev Tycoon” is coming to Steam on the 29th of August. It was originally released on the Windows 8 Store in December 2012, and it was re-released on “Greenheart Games,” website early 2013.
When released it received positive responses from critics and fans, apart from the fans which are pirates as the developers purposely uploaded a crack version of their game onto sites such as PirateBay however these versions would cause your game to fail for hilarious results on the torrent forums.
In Game Dev Tycoon you get to experience the history of game development as you start in your garage in the 1980’s and as you gain popularity you can research new technology, hire and train staff to work for your company. You’re able to choose the genre of your game and what platform you want to release it on. You’ll be able to move to bigger offices as you become more popular as a developer and earn more money. If you liked a similar game on the Android called Game Dev Story you’ll love this as Game Dev Tycoon is far more expansive and detailed. If you enjoy any of the tycoon games or you’re curious about story development then I’m sure you’ll like this game.
