Free-for-all combat is nothing new to video games, especially for the likes of first and third person shooters. However it becomes a big deal when a major player like Gears of War: Judgment picks up the new style, and embraces it completely.
Gears of War: Judgment has been said to be the most challenging Gears game yet, strictly speaking single player. Bulletstorm developers “People can Fly” have introduced the entirely new “smart spawn system”, bringing on a whole new breed of challenging AI, complete with a new adventure for the Gears universe. On the other hand we have the familiar fast-paced multiplayer that we all know and love, bringing back the typical mechanics like rolling, shotguns, and executions to decide the winning team. We’ve all enjoyed the intriguing style of team based combat in Gears of War before. Fan-favorites like Horde and Team Teathmatch always made up the majority of the fun, until now with the new addition of free-for-all.
In addition to free-for-all, Epic Games and Microsoft have announced two brand new maps to go along with the new mode, Gondola and Library.
GONDOLA – The Coastal Villa Apartments are part of the exclusive Halvo community located in the prestigious Agora foothills. Residents enjoy a host of interior upgrades, and each unit features an ocean view from a private patio or balcony. This quiet, gated community is located only a short gondola ride from the renowned shops and businesses of our active and thriving coastal community.
LIBRARY – The Alexiy Desipich Memorial Library is not a library in the traditional sense, but rather an archive of important documents surrounding his life, career, and personal interests. An avid historian, politician, and philosopher, Desipich is most remembered as the father and creator of the Austere Canon, the basis for the Coalition of Ordered Governments, which was shaped around eight guiding principles: Order, Diligence, Purity, Labor, Honour, Loyalty, Faith, and Humility.
Gears of War: Judgement will be grinding our living rooms into pieces on March 19th 2013. More information can be found here.
