Grand Chase: Rebirth Launches

Grand Chase: Rebirth Launches

Most anime – Japanese cartoons – have a unique aesthetic.  Anime might have some of the most insane clothes thrown together and more ink in their hair than what was used to edit their story.  But Anime could also be the personification of escapism for fans.  And what better way to escape from reality than by defying logic with young, cute characters going into dungeons and killing monsters for bigger numbers?  That's the only positive thing I could say for anime-based games, and it seems like Grand Chase: Rebirth is giving more of what Anime fans like; cute characters doing awesome things.

Gamers entering Grand Chase will notice some aesthetic changes to the game.  Fan-favorite characters Elesis, Lire and Arme will be showing off a refined look thanks to an reimbursement of pixels into their attire.  The characters also spent their kooky XP to get new facial expression, thus giving them more of that 'charm' I'm glad to see – from another country.

The Rebirth update is not all aesthetics as there are some functional updates.  A new, fourth skill is added towards endgame, which is available to Elesis, Lire and Arme.  Also the hybrid attack/mana pool from Asin's fighting mechanic is now available to any Grand Chase playable character.

The user interface for Grand Chase also gets a face-lift by streamlining the existing user and dungeon HUD.  A new character-creation process is implemented, along with better icons to help players customize their avatar before they go dungeon-crawling.  Plus the resolution for the game has reached a massive 1024×786, so you can see a wider window of cuteness on your screen.

Sunny Kim, producer of Grand Chase for SG Interactive (leading North American free-to-play MMO game publisher) mentions that the Rebirth update is based upon player input.  He doesn't go into great detail of what to expect from Grand Chase: Rebirth, but so far these updates are just the 'tip of the iceberg'.  Oh joy, more cute Anime characters for me to look at.
