The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V releases next month, Tuesday 17th September, but not all had been revealed about the game until today. In the previous gameplay trailer that we got to see, we saw the dynamic open-world universe of Grand Theft Auto V in the eyes of the three protagonists, Michael, Trevor and Franklin. However that was for the story side of Grand Theft Auto V, today we get to see the highly-anticipated online mode, frequently and officially referred to as ‘Grand Theft Auto Online’.
From the Grand Theft Auto V multiplayer gameplay video we can see that a lot has been added and improved upon from Grand Theft Auto IV. Such things include the redesigned mechanics which make using and swapping out weapons a seamless transition. In Grand Theft Auto Online, there is plenty to do – the online side of Grand Theft Auto V offers the same open world that is available on the story side of the game, this means that you can go anywhere and do anything you want by playing structured activities such as tennis, at the tennis courts in Los Santos, or playing golf at the golf range! As well as structured activities, you have the freedom to do unstructured activities such as riding your motorbike off of a cliff and then gliding back down to land by using your parachute. From this we can draw that, much like in Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad Of Gay Tony, you will be able to use parachutes online to sky dive from buildings and use them in other ways too!
There was one mission in Grand Theft Auto IV where you, playing as Niko, had to rob a bank and carry out a heist, but nothing like that was available online. Now, in Grand Theft Auto Online, you can carry out heists, alone or with friends. The experience of carrying out a heist is truly amazing, because the whole experience is unique so anything could happen, the AI that are in the bank at the time will react in different ways and you will most likely partake in a shoot-out with the local Police Department, do you think you would be able to survive a heist alone, or would you need to take some friends in with you to complete the job?
Improved upon from Grand Theft Auto IV is the ability to drive and do things by yourself, whilst playing online, Grand Theft Auto IV only allowed you to do this is party mode; but when you play Grand Theft Auto Online, you will be able to cruise around in your flash car, take part in missions or just simply explore the open world without any interference. You have the choice of playing alone on multiplayer, with friends or finding new friends and enemies whilst playing in one of the many new online modes that are available to play in Grand Theft Auto Online!
Very much like the story side of most Grand Theft Auto games, by completing missions and challenges you get paid a reward for doing it and then you were free to spend your money, that you had earned, on clothes and guns. We have never been able to do this in the multiplayer of any Grand Theft Auto game, until now. Grand Theft Auto Online allows you to earn money by completing missions and challenges, online, and then you can spend that money on a wide array of items, such as your character – customizing their look and their guns, you also have the ability to buy an apartment, many different vehicles – which include: cars, motorbikes, airplanes, jetplanes, helicopters and even speedboats! To store all of these vehicles, you can buy yourself a garage, which will store your vehicles and allow you to take them out for a race or for leisure. Everything you do online helps you to progress your level, so by completing missions, challenges and winning in one of the online game modes will reward you with cash, new missions and other rewards.
In terms of DLC (Downloadable Content) players were not given much for Grand Theft Auto IV, other than the additional two games – Grand Theft Auto: The Lost & Damned and Grand Theft Auto: The Balad Of Gay Tony. However, for Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar will be constantly developing new content for use with Grand Theft Auto Online. In addition to Rockstar creating new content frequently, now you will have the ability to create content of your own and share it with the world of Grand Theft Auto Online, thanks to the all-new content creator that Rockstar have implemented into the game! With the content creator you can create your own deathmatch, by placing weapons where you see fit and you can also plot a map for an online race; once you have completed setting up your desired look you can easily upload it from your console and share it to everyone else on Grand Theft Auto Online!
Overall, Grand Theft Auto Online is going to be a mind-blowing experience and great fun for every Grand Theft Auto fan. With the new online system your experience is going to be better than ever, thanks to the great graphics, the array of missions and challenges to complete as well as the content creator and rewards you can receive. With the dynamic shared world of Grand Theft Auto Online you will be able to do anything you want, be that from sky diving, racing cars, robbing banks or everyone’s favourite thing to do in Grand Theft Auto – get in to trouble and get chased by the police!
