Granny Smith is now available for purchase in the iOS and Android stores for $0.99. If the title doesn’t give it away, the game is about apples and old people. Great combination. Kids these days are really into healthy food and respecting their elders. Back in my day, you could go to a fast food establishment and order junk food without finding out how many calories you would consume. And kids did not respect people with gray hair.
We played it pretty fast and loose with obesity and disrespect in the 90’s. The developers really put a lot of love and care into the title with the way they tied everything together. I really get a sense that they like cohesion in their concepts. Thank goodness the title of this game is not a groan-inducing, eye-rollingly predictable pun.
Players will get the chance to play as a character named Granny Smith who is chasing a bandit who stole her beloved apples. This thief is clearly in the early stages of his career to make the rookie mistake of stealing apples, and that’s fine. You have to start somewhere, but why not try a small jewel heist? In your journey to retrieve your stolen apples, you’ll get to try out a “robust physics engine.” Players can throw objects to slow down the bandit, and there are breakable objects that show off the destruction physics of the game.
Oh, you’re wondering how you break some of those objects? With the body of an old lady, of course! Players are encouraged to “crash through crates and windows, then watch the pieces fly all over!” I’m glad the gaming industry is working so hard to earn respect for the medium by not doing childish and inherently offensive things to spice up an otherwise bland game. That would just be depressing.
