Halo 4 Promethean Weaponry Revealed

Halo 4 Promethean Weaponry Revealed

Six promethean weapons are revealed in Halo 4.  The first is "light rifle," capable of switching between single and burst fire and good at medium range.  Second, there is the "Scattershot", capable of firing a burst of lasers in a short range, hitting anything caught in the spread-fire.  Coming up next is the "Suppressor", automatically set to auto, this weapon will spray a stream of bullets anywhere you point.  Then there is the "Binary rifle", complete with a scope to snipe hostiles from a distance.

Noticing a pattern?  The new weapons in Halo 4 have similar mechanics to familiar first-person shooter guns.  The "Boltshot" is a pistol that seems to act like a crossbow with its fan-like fins on the side.  Then the "Incineration Cannon", as bad-ass as it sounds, is a rocket launcher to deliver splash damage.  All six of them sound exciting, yet they don't seem to have any functional difference for a Scattershot to a shotgun.

To be fair, the display of the promethean weapons are impressive.  Each weapon has their own distinct color and neon lighting that they could come right out of Tron.  I'm not sure how these weapons could be carried by the humans in Halo 4 since the Prometheans are around 4 meters tall and could easily crush a human skull with one hand, but I'm sure these are minor continuity details.

Halo 4 is an exclusive first-person shooter coming to the Xbox 360 this November 6, 2012.  Halo 4 is available now for pre-order in three editions.  For more information, visit the Halo 4 Web site.
