Info about the Amazing Spider-Man Wii U Game Swings into View

Wii U Spider-ManMarvel Entertainment and Activision today announced details regarding the Wii U version of the Amazing Spider-Man.

The game is set in the aftermath of the 2012 film and documents the untold story that followed Spidey’s defeat of the Lizard.

Players must battle against updated versions of classic villains and original characters unique to the game in an attempt to save Manhattan.

The Wii U version is intended to build on the smooth combat and webslinging free-roam of the original game by offering serveral new features. Players can access the OsCorp OsPhone using the Gamepad, which allows them to accept new challenges, navigate the city and upgrade their abilities. Owners of the Wii U may also swap instantly between playing on the TV screen and using the inbuilt screen of the Game Pad.

In celebration of the Wii U release of the game, a special Ultimate Edition will also be available, containing new Spidey suits and four DLC packs intended to build on the web-slinging experience:

  • The first DLC pack is the Stan Lee Adventure, fully voiced by the creator of Spider-Man himself. The content allows players to take control of Stan and swing through New York using Spider-Man’s powers of wall crawling and web rushing to collect the missing pages of Stan’s latest script. Collecting all the pages will give players access to a surprise award.
  • Lizard Rampage is the title of the second pack, with players able to take control of the titular villain and fight their way through the streets, battling OsCop Guards on the way.
  • Rhino Challenge puts players in the role of the massive juggernaut Rhino as they rampage through the city, committing as much destruction as possible in a set time limit.
  • The final pack is Oscorp Search and Destroy, which adds two new mini games to the Oscorp phone.

Both the Ultimate and standard editions of The Amazing Spiderman will be available on the Wii U from the 5th of March in America and the 8th in Europe. More information can be found on the game’s official site or Facebook page.
