Itsmy Brings HTML5 Gaming Service to Smart TV & Set-Top Boxes

A Munich based developer Itsmy today announced a launch of a new gaming service for Smart TV’s and set-top boxes. Working off the relatively new internet HTML5 platform, it provides a new way of playing social games without needing extra software like Macromedia Flash to run.

“In contrast to the online streaming services, we have developed our cloud platform in HTML5 which runs perfectly with low and high bandwidth. Our server side platform technology enables us to deliver on the fly the best possible HTML5 code to guarantee a high-class gaming fun.” says Jukka Saarelainen, CTO itsmy.”

It’ll start with 20 titles, including popular titles like Solitaire, Chess, and Poker, and some itsmy favourites including “Impossible Hit”, a reflex based game, and “Diamoon City”, a high-speed combo title.

To play on a Smart TV, simply go to itsmy.tv and the cloud will automatically recognise everything that is needed to play, including the manufacturer, type, of the devices and the version both the Smart TV and set-top box are using, making play simple and easy to use.

“Cross- and multi-device gets a new definition. From now on the entire family can play against each other in the living room being connected via different devices like TV, Tablet, Notebook and Mobile Phones.” adds Sabine Irrgang, COO itsmy.

If you own a smart phone or tablet, you can also play itsmy games without buying the games again that you choose to play, as the entire service runs off the cloud, which basically means its all running off their servers which retains what you own, and doesn’t need any additional downloading to the storage device as they simply stream the service directly from their servers.

It also means you can use the social applications within itsmy, like accessing friend lists, messaging, challenges, and achievements all in the comfort of your sofa on your touch based device of choice.

By the end of the year, the distribution of the API (what makes the service possible) should be worldwide accessible!
