Konami Finally Announces Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophy Patch

After constant badgering from the Metal Gear Solid community, Konami have officially announced that a trophy patch will be released for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

The trophy patch will be released around the time of the rerelease of the original game when it hits Japan August 30th for the special anniversary event of Metal Gear Solid as they celebrate the 25 years of the success of the series.

Guns of the Patriots was originally released on the Playstation 3, where it received critical acclaim for being one of the greatest action games of 2008. The MGS franchise in general is seen as Konami’s most successful series of games with the start of the series in 1987 with Metal Gear Solid Snake.
Even though the game was sold and reviewed well, gamers and fans noticed that the Playstation exclusive title was lacking in the key feature of trophies. Kojima was asked multiple times on the matter but he would quickly deny the plans for any form of trophy support for the blockbuster video game.

This could also call for assumption that a possible update on the sequel to MGS4 during the anniversary celebration. There is also rumours of a potential appearance from the beloved main character of the series, Solid Snake.

Kojima states:
“In Guns Of The Patriots he was supposed to die, but everyone on the staff really wanted to keep him alive, so I caved a little. I did have the feeling that I wanted to end the series, but looking back at it now as a producer, I think as long as people want to keep on playing it, I want to keep on meeting that demand, so I don’t think it’s a bad thing. But as a creator, I would rather pass it off to someone else.”
