Lost Planet 3 Gets a Release Date

Capcom announced that their latest title is set to be realesed later this year. Gamers prepare to return to the frozen wasteland of a forgotten planet with Lost Planet 3.

Lost Planet 3 will hit store shelves in North America on June 25 and Europe on June 28 and will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

LostPlanet 3

Now, even though it is the third game in the series it breaks the rule of continuing the games story after the events of Lost Planet 2. The game actually takes place before the events of first game. A new trailer shows what players will encounter on the frozen wastes of E.D.N. III.

The story follows NEVEC employee Jim Peyton as he earns a living on the surface of E.D.N. III searching for the planet’s energy supply called T-Eng. On one of his missions to locate the energy, he runs into one of the  planet’s most hideous creature called the Akrid. The fight with the beast causes his mechanized utility rig, a giant machine used to farm for T-Eng, to fall down an icy cavern, knocking Jim unconscious. When he wakes up he finds himself in a secret underground base full of many dwellers calling themselves Snow Pirates. He discovers the leader’s daughter, Mira, rescued him from the crash and must come to grips that NEVEC is not the only inhabitants of the planet E.D.N. III.

Lost Planet 3’s trailer had a very Dead Space vibe to it which I view as a good thing. The game looks fantastic and I think Capcom and Spark will take the series in the direction it needs to go. We know the frozen wasteland of E.D.N. III well from the previous two games but what will it hold for us the first time we visit it? Time can only tell what Lost Planet 3 holds for us but I for one am excited for it.
