Make Something Unreal Live 2013 Finalists Compete

The Make Something Unreal Live 2013 contest pits teams of up and coming game developers against each other to see who can create the best video game.

Each team gets a Wellcome Trust scientist that is able to mentor the members as they develop a game based on the theme ‘Mendelian inheritance:genetics and genomics’. Epic Games, the wonderful company behind the award-winning Gears of War series, has given each team its Unreal Development Kid. This free package includes Epic’s Unreal Engine 3.

Each team pitched a game idea that followed the ‘Mendelian inheritance: genetics and genomics’ theme back in December and have been working hard on their specific projects since then. The scientists are from the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and can only give the gaming developers advice on how to create the game.

Below are the final four teams and their creations.
