Micro Machines Creator Holding Tournament

Micro Machines Creator Holding Tournament

Initially developed for the Nintendo Entertainment system in 1991, Micro Machines paved the way for many future racing games. Its unique settings such as pool tables and breakfast tables won the hearts of many gamers. The game itself sold millions of copies for multiple gaming platforms.

Will Luton, the Creative Director of Mobile Pie, has organized a Micro Machines tournament as part of the Best of British 48 hour Game Hack. Taking place on Saturday 21 July at 11am, at the Mind Candy Office in Shoreditch, London, the tournament will include some of the masterminds behind the game including Andrew Graham and David Darling. Game Hack participants, journalists, Kwalee, and Mobile Pie will also participate in the all the fun.

Joe Barron, Kwalee’s Community Evangelist, will be hosting the tournament; and the battles will be held on both Micro Machine games: Turbo Driver Tournament, for the Sega Mega Drive, and Micro Machines V3 for the Sony Playstation. Participants will be competing for prizes offered to the winners of the tournament.

Participants are already fired up and ready to go. Andrew Graham expressed his eagerness to take on “sleep deprived participants” of the tournament.

“Nobody mugs off the Pie and gets away with it and these Kwalee kids have been giving it the big one on Twitter. It’s going to be brutal,” says Will Luton.

The Best of Bristish 48 hour Game Hack is a private event held over a span of three days, from Friday 20 July to Sunday 22 July, that gives mobile developers a chance to meet and create apps for the iOS and Android.

David Darling expressed his excitement for the event.

“It’s a new generation of mobile game developers, taking on the veterans at their own game. It’s great to enjoy an event like this with today’s great UK mobile developers, celebrating one of the best games series of all time.”
