New Borderlands 2 Trailer Gets Its Wimoweh On

If you haven’t gotten excited for the highly anticipated sequel to 2010’s underdog RPG Shooter yet, then maybe now is the time to start as developer Gearbox Software releases an all new trailer for Borderlands 2.

Gearbox Software doesn’t disappoint once again as their newest digital advertisement drips with smile inducing carnage and an unorthodox sing along to The Token’s 1961 hit “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”.

Some great content is revealed in this trailer as we see Axton the “Commando” class which will be used by yours truly sporting not one, but two sentry turrets for his special ability. These turrets look to go up and over what the original support turret of Borderlands had to offer with all new rocket pod weapons and what seems to be quadruple barrelled turrets instead of just the one this time.

The other classes get some video love too with Maya the “Siren” using her all powerful Phaselock to lift enemies into the air before clasping her palm and forcing her victims to implode into a bloody mess. Zer0 who will be taking the place of Mordecai as the all new “Assassin” class with his useful ability to turn invisible before his enemies while making a decoy of himself, and then finally sneaking up on the unsuspecting enemy with an exploding stab of his nano-tech samurai sword.

The sequel’s poster child known as Salvador comes in guns blazing once again as the almighty “Gunzerker”. With the ability to dual wield two heavy weapons, Salvador replaces the original game’s tank/bruiser who could originally only wield one heavy weapon.

Borderlands 2 is set to release this year on these confirmed release dates:

United States Release Date: 18th September, 2012
European Release Date: 21st September, 2012

Don’t forget you can preorder Deluxe and Vault Hunter editions of the game from most retail stores.
