Perpetual Testing Initiative

Perpetual Testing Initiative

The Perpetual Testing Initiative is an add on for Portal 2 which can be downloaded free via an update in Steam on PC.

Portal 2, the popular sequel to Portal, first seen on The Orange Box (A Half Life 2 boxset) has been given a welcome update.

With The Perpetual Testing Initiative  it finally allows users to create their own testing rooms, and they have made the process pretty simple too, with simple mouse controls.

You can place objects, scale rooms/extend/shrink, add holes, water, gels, buttons, turrets, you name it, it’s there. Once you have finished creating the masterpiece, you can then share it with the world via the Steam Workshop.

If you don’t feel like creating a map straight away, you can play many made by fans. Each map can be rated either a thumbs up or a thumbs down after playing, and this then adds to a 5 star rated score based on the reviews given so far, so don’t worry about downloading a dud.

Over 35,000 maps have been created so far, with 1.3 million maps downloaded over 2 days.

Give Portal 2 a try if you haven’t already, and into puzzlers. You will find it heaps of fun, and if you access Steam now, you may have chance of grabbing the game for cheap (£5.09) if the offer has been extended over to today.

There are at the moment no plans to release the update for Xbox 360 or PS3 users, so download the Perpetual Testing Initiative
