A Microsoft job ad has recently revealed possible information for the next Xbox, or the Xbox 720 as some refer to it as. While no official statement regarding the matter has been released, the Microsoft ad is specifically looking for a “UI Designer & Prototyper -Xbox” to work at the UK-based Skype section of the company on “next gen Xbox” related projects. The ad also states “The team you’ll join is responsible for Skype in the living room (broadly the home), across various devices but with a focus on the large screen and the next generation of Xbox.” This goes to show us the possibilities of the next-gen console, which may very well support Skype. A long awaited update from the muffled Xbox Live chat we currently have to deal with right now.
In similar news earlier this week, a job opening for a veteran role at Microsoft’s entertainment department proposed that the next Xbox console will be released before 2014. Searching for a Central Marketing Group Director, this ad claims that “over the next eighteen months Microsoft will release new versions of all of our most significant products including Windows (Client, Server, Phone and Azure), Office and Xbox, along with completely new offerings like Microsoft Surface”. “This wave of product launches will define the course of the company for years to come and thus provides an unprecedented opportunity for us to refresh and evolve our strategic brands.”
Similar listing for current and next Xbox development have been revealed in Redmond, USA. Actively stating “The Microsoft brand strategy team is looking for passionate, creative, team-oriented branding experts to help us lead this transformation.”
All this Next Xbox related news seemed to pour in after a recent slip up from a Microsoft employee saying that Windows 8 will be compatible with the next Xbox. Microsoft was quick to clarify the abrupt comment, saying that the exact phrasing in the statement was “not understood in its intended context.” Another related leak from earlier about a fresh wave of new Microsoft products coming soon including the Next Xbox, was addressed in very much the same way.
Microsoft`s next Xbox is no stranger to rumors surrounding its release and features. As related comments have been circling for some time now, including things about Kinect 2.0, the long-awaited Xbox TV, and SmartGlass integration.
