“RUINS OF BRIGHTHOLME” SANCTUM 2 SECOND DLC BRINGS IMPROVISED WEAPONS, BIGGER INTERACTIVE LEVELS AND NEW “INFECTED” ENEMIES
Coffee Stain Studios has announced the release of the second DLC expansion for Sanctum 2, the tower defense/ FPS indie title. Just as Sanctum 1 the DLC will be available on Steam. The expansion pack includes larger interactive map elements, infected enemies, and a vast array of weapons including the Circle Saw; you know, something to play with while your HQ is being beleaguered by waves of infected enemies. I’m sure you’ll find something to do with it.
“We delivered a lot of new content with the ‘Road To Eylsion’ DLC and we wanted the second expansion pack to be just as big,” said Anton Westberg, CEO of Coffee Stain Studios. “I think when Sanctum 2 fans play the Ruins of Brightholme DLC, they’ll be really intrigued by how weapons, towers and other gameplay elements reflect the grittier, dirtier settings of the Slums.”
The new expansion pack unfolds in “The Slums” of Brightholme where players must set up a defense grid by placing defense towers in order to maze waves of enemies as they barge into the labyrinth. The player can then take the vanguard either alone or as part of a four-player co-op squad in multiplayer mode in order to withstand the onslaught.
The Ruins of Brightholme DLC includes a weapon expansion that will allow you to use two improvised weapons: the nail gun (pretty self-explanatory) and the Circle Saw, a melee weapon that will allow you to behead anyone who stands in your way and whose secondary attack has been described as “Uber Cool”
The downloadable content also features new interactive map elements such as explosive traps and rising toxic liquid areas which will force the player to adapt to new circumstances. The DLC includes two additional defense towers: Rupture mines will have a damage-over-time mechanic where enemies will take damage based on the speed and distance they travel; players will also have access to the Makeshift Tower which acts as a double- edged sword since it can either shoot with critical damage or shutdown at any time.
The Ruins of Brightholme will also introduce new enemies. The jumper is a new type of enemy that will be able to clear walls and towers with a single bound. Infected Explorers will be able to take a lot of damage thanks to their regenerative abilities; they’ll lope around the map and aggro players with powerful melee attacks.
The DLC will also include new Perks such as damage boosts, kill steaks, speed boosts and the “thor Module” which will enable towers to emit a shockwave whenever it kills an enemy. The rank cap level will also be increased by 5.
Sanctum 2: Ruins of Brightholme DLC expansion pack will be available on PC via Steam for $4.99, or you can get the Sanctum 2 Season Pass for $11.99.
Sanctum 2 is now available for $14.99 on PC, Xbox live and it’ll be available worldwide on September 10 for the same price on the PSN.
