Sink Your Friends in Kartuga

Get those cannons ready and learn to live with scurvy in the pirate MMOG Kartuga!

It’s rare to find any kind of RPG outside of the fantasy setting. Sure Skyrim and the upcoming Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition are a load of fun to fans of RPGs, but they still have elves and swords for you to swing. Sometimes you might be an elf, but given a machine gun instead of a bow – hence why Shadowrun Online is a breath of fresh air. But it’s even more rare to see an MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) game step out of its fantasy roots so it can compete with the one MMORPG to rule them all. Or maybe some developers decide to go a different direction with their game with different context, such as InnoGames with their premiere trailer for Kartuga, a pirate-MMOG.

Players take the role of a pirate in Kartuga, sailing in their own vessel to take on quests or fight with cannons. There will be three classes of pirates available in the free-to-play game: The Engineer, providing special buffs to the ship; the Destroyer, filling their decks with numerous cannons to deliver maximum damage; or the Protector, giving their ship a better chance of survival on the hostile sea. Each pirate in Kartuga will come with their own skill tree and unique playstyle.

The single-player campaign for Kartuga will let players explore an open world with their vessel. Players can participate in numerous quests scattered around the world, which could vary from transporting valuable good to engaging in intense sea-fights with other pirates. As you complete quests, you can advance your pirate to a higher level and survive longer on the open sea.

If you and your crew get tired of the single-player in Kartuga, then move on to the multi-player. Engage in free-for-all Player versus Player or cooperative matches with your friends. All three pirate classes are necessary to survive in these exciting multi-player battles if you wish to be the very best pirate!

Kartuga is a free-to-play MMOG coming early 2013. For more information, visit Kartuga‘s Web site and sign up for the Beta!
