Tesco Releases A Dedicated Blinkbox App For PS3 Users.
Tesco is well known for branching out into things that have nothing to do with supermarkets such as their own price comparison website and their own mobile service. This tradition is continued with Blinkbox which is basically Tesco’s answer to Netflix. Now, you may wonder why I have started to talk about a supermarket brand on a gaming news website but, as the title of the article hinted, the aforementioned Blinkbox is now available on the PS3 where it had previously only been available on the Xbox.
“Teaming up with PS3 means we can bring the latest blockbuster movies and quality TV series to even more homes in the UK. The app further demonstrates our commitment to delivering stellar entertainment to as many people as possible, on a wide variety of devices.”
-Blinkbox CEO Michael Comish
“PlayStation3 offers so much more than just great games and we know there is a huge interest within our audience for film. The addition of Blinkbox to our current range of services is a very natural fit and one which significantly enhances the value proposition of PlayStation 3.”
-Murray Pannell, marketing director from PlayStation UK
Writers Opinion: This seems like a wasted investment considering that PS3 users could already use Blinkbox on the internet browser. I also don’t really buy that this will “significantly enhance the value proposition of Playstation 3” considering that the film watching community of the PS3 users already have Netflix.
