The Splatters is coming to Steam

The Splatters is being developed for PC and Mac and will be available for purchase via Steam. The development team is looking to create a new version tailored to both the PC audience and PC capabilities. The game was a smashing (or splattering?) success on Xbox Live Arcade and garnered numerous awards. I believe the words “splatterific” and “splattastic” were thrown around.

No release date has been announced for the PC version of The Splatters as the studio believes this update will take a good deal of time. “As much as we love the the XBLA version of the game, we also learned a lot from it,” said Niv Fisher, co-founder of SpikySnail Games. “Being small and independent brings plenty of disadvantages, but one of the upsides is getting to do what you really believe in. And in this point in time we would like to try a little different approach which we believe is a meaningful improvement. It also gives us tons of new and interesting stuff to deal with besides the port itself (which can get quite boring).” Gamers who have played the XBLA version should expect a slew of new content when the title is available on Steam.

The Splatters gives players the chance to control a series of jelly-like creatures to solve physics-based puzzles. It’s been called “a frisky show of skill, challenge and splattery destruction,” and if you’re uncomfortable reading that, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Now if you’re the type of person who tries to solve everyday problems with jam, jelly, preserves, or jello, this is your game. No niche is too small for game developers, although I’m still looking for an FPS that takes breaks for quilting and tea. Fingers crossed.
