In the first of a “Tomb Raider: The Final Hours”, Camillia is interviewed at the headquarters of developer Crystal Dynamics about her dynamic role as Lara Croft. The team conducted an exhaustive search for the best actress to play the role. When they confirmed Camilla Luddington, such was the excitement that our new bad ass Lara Croft actually screamed in her car. “When I was first approached for it, I felt really overwhelmed at the honor of playing an icon like Lara Croft. I think I screamed in my car actually when I heard I got the role” says Camilla Luddington.
We are going to see how a young shy girl actually became the adventurous bad ass sexy Lara Croft. This series shows Miss Croft as more human and emotionally connected rather than a cold blooded killer and the developers believe that Camilla Luddington is the best face and voice they could find. She is not only stunning and attractive but has an emotional appeal to her which the players will get to see in the upcoming games.
“We went through the process looking for actresses the world over, Europe, LA and we had hundreds and hundreds of actresses that were whittled down and we ended up with Camilla!” says Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio Crystal Dynamics.
“She had sort of that rawness that we wanted, someone who not only wanted the part but was to push her character into that emotional area that we wanted” says Karl Stewart, Global Brand Director Crystal Dynamics.
The video also shows us some impressive visuals of the new Tomb Raider game and we also get to hear the new Lara Croft. She sounds definitely younger, passionate and yet soft and emotional than the previous Lara Crofts. According to the Brian Horton, Senior Art Director at Crystal Dynamics, Camilla is breathing life into the character and you can see tears streaming down Camilla’s face when Lara goes through an emotional scene.
It is real people. We have a new Lara Croft who is not only tough but also expressive about her fears and emotions.
