
Square Enix today released a multiplayer mode add on for the hit Tomb Raider reboot. Called Caves and Cliffs, the DLC pack will add three new maps to the game.
The first map goes by the name Scavenger Caverns and pits players against each other in a series of caves that run underneath the island that Tomb Raider is set on. The island’s scavengers have also set up an underground prison in the caves, which players will fight inside as they explore the map.
The second map is titled Seaside Shantytown. Set in a scavenger village high in the cliffs of the island, the layered buildings boast an array of traps that players will have to avoid or use to their advantage as they fight off the opposing team.
The final map included in the DLC goes is called The Burning Village. Set inside an abandoned Japanese town, players will be able to utilise their burning surroundings in order to flank or escape from their opponents.
The multiplayer of Tomb Raider pits two teams against one other, one group controlling native scavengers from the island and the other controlling the shipwrecked crew of the Endurance. To promote the multiplayer mode, Square Enix have also released an official trailer:
Players will be able to utilise the environment against each other as they battle against the opposing team, taking cover behind rocks and pillars. In addition, gamers will be able to use use environmental hazards to thin out the enemy ranks. The multiplayer also emphasises the agility of the player, with characters able to hang from roofs and quickly slide on ropes in order to gain a positional advantage over their opponents.
The Caves and Cliffs DLC is an Xbox 360 exclusive, and is currently available on the Xbox Marketplace for 400 Microsoft Points.
