Feral Interactive have announced the massively successful adventure game, Tomb Raider, is set to released on the Mac a bit later this year.
The game, which is developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, re-tells the story of the legendary Lara Croft. It had the biggest opening week sales in franchise history, winning over 40 awards and still continues to be one of the top selling titles of 2013.
Tomb Raider starts with Lara shipwrecked on the island of Yamatai. To survive, she must use all of her skills and instincts to uncover the secrets of the island, save her friends and escape. She must climb and jump through a huge series of environments, from sprawling jungles and a huge shanty town, to ancient temples and old war bunkers. She must also obtain new skills, collect resources and upgrade her kit and weapons so that she can uncover the long buried secrets of the giant island.
Managing directer of Feral Interactive, David Stephen, said of the game, “We all know Lara Croft as a coolly self-assured adventurer, but she wasn’t always that way. Tomb Raider does an amazing job of tracing the character’s evolution from amateur explorer to battle-hardened survivor. It’s a tense, but intensely exhilarating journey.”
The Head of Product Development and Studios at Square Enix, Darrell Gallagher, had a few more words to add on the imminent release. “We’re excited to bring Tomb Raider to the Mac, and in doing so introduce a new audience to Lara Croft’s original story. This is one more step on the road to achieving everything we wanted with the game.”
