Top 5 Most Abstract Games Of 2012

Here they are, the most abstract games of 2012!

5) Pizza vs. Skeletons (iOS)

You are a 25’ tall pizza that can wear a mustache among other things. You are tasked with crushing an army of the undead that carry pointy spears. Developer Riverman Media has created what is probably the most bizarre game of all time, but the highly addictive gameplay will keep you coming back for more.

4) They Bleed Pixels (PC)

Developed by Spooky Squid Games Inc. They Bleed Pixels is a fiendishly difficult action platformer inspired by the novels of H.P. Lovecraft. The darker tone and fantastic soundtrack, mixed with a combat system that rewards players for elaborate kills, secures They Bleed Pixels’ spot as one of the most abstract games of 2012.

3) Hotline Miami (PC)

An ultra-violent mash up of Manhunt meets Postal; Hotline Miami is arguably one of the most violent games I’ve ever played. Developed by Dennaton Games, Hotline Miami has a cleaver story that is chocked full of dark humor. A memorable soundtrack and the 8-bit art style bring back memories of my old NES days; though I never had men in animal masks demanding this much blood.

2) Little Inferno (PC, Wii U)

It’s basically a game about burning things; lots of things. Beavis and Butthead would be so proud! Luckily there is more meat to the game then just setting random things on fire. Figuring out which combination of items burn best leads to more points and, more importantly, bigger fires and even explosions. Developed by Tomorrow Corporation, most known for World of Goo, Little Inferno is definitely worthy of this list. Fire! Fire! Hehe.

1) Borderlands 2 (Xbox360, PS3, PC)

Crude and hilarious, Borderlands 2 brings back all the wackiness of the first game, and then some. Back are the over-the-top, egotistical, downright hysterical villains. Back are the wild guns that do nothing and everything. Most importantly, back is Claptrap with his matter-of-fact attitude and an impeccable desire to get you killed. Borderlands 2 not only tops the abstract list, but is arguably one of the best games of 2012. Oh by the way, “ButtStallion says hello.”

On any give day Jason crushes the locust horde, ends the zombie apocalypse, and finds epic loot in the process.
