TORMENT : TIDES OF NUMENERA KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN REACHES ITS GOAL IN LESS THAN A DAY

After completing preproduction phase of the Wasteland 2 InXile Entertainment decided to move on to subsequent project. Torment: Tides of Numenra kickstarter campaign needed less than a day to reach its goal of 900,000,000 dollars. Even more, 1,7 million have already been donated. No doubts, Brian Fargo and his team will be able to bring back to life another legendary RPG.

Torment_Tides_of_Numenera_concept4Torment: Tides of Numenera is a spiritual successor to the cult Planescape: Torment — by many considered one of the greatest video adventures in the history of electronic entertainment. Complex character development, difficult decisions and most of all: mature, deeply moving story — every reason why players fell in love with the original Torment will appear in Tides of Numenera.

„What does one life matter?” will be main question we will seek to answer throughout the game. Like in original Torment the main character will have limited knowledge of himself at the start of the game. With time he will discover the truth about his origin and will have to face the consequences of his choices.

The matter of choice is highly emphasized by the creators as your decisions will echo throughout the game. There won’t be a right or wrong way of completing the quest and there won’t be one proper ending — creators want to give the players freedom to act without judging them.

The combat system is yet to be determined but developers have already declared they are not aimig for constant slashing and collecting tons of items as in many other RPGs. They want to concentrate on encounters promoting thinking not fast clicking. However, most if not all combat will be avoidable.

Torment will take place in the world of Numenera from newly crafted RPG by Monte Cook (now working with InXile on the computer game) — the setting where vast, highly developed  civilizations are long gone. The ruins and devices of unknown purpose scattered around are proofs of their technological advancement and great mysteries to the present-day men.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to play the game at least until next year’s Christmas — the release date is set for December 2014.
