UK and Ireland Win at Call of Duty Championship 2013

The UK and Ireland’s best Call of Duty gamers triumphed at the Electronic Sports League’s European Finals in Germany last week. They will now head to Hollywood in an attempt to win their share of the tournaments $1 million prize. The Call of Duty Finals will take place 5th-7th April.

Ireland team Epsilon won the grand final of the Call of Duty Championship’s European leg, edging out the UK’s Fariko.Dragons in the final phase cementing themselves as serious contenders in the upcoming Call of Duty Championship, presented by the Xbox tournament. Having secured their place in the global finals on Saturday they advanced through to the final on Sunday by overcoming Pain Gaming (Spain) and Killerfish (Germany), before taking out Fariko.Dragons in the final of the tournament.

England’s Fariko Dragons came in second and are one of eight teams from Europe to have qualified via the ESL’s European Finals to participate in the upcoming Call of Duty Championship, presented by Xbox tournaments.

The Fariko Dragons, made up of Pete ‘Melo’ Riley, Andrew ‘Amaze’ McClure, Luke ‘Luke’ Edwards and Samuel ‘Biss’ Bissell are now set to fly the flag for the UK as they will be jetting to Hollywood, California 5-7th April for the chance to win their share of the tournament’s $1million prize. They will go head to head against 31 other teams from around the globe for the right to call themselves the best Call of Duty players in the world.

Over the last month more than 200 teams from across Europe have competed for the chance to play at the ESL’s European Finals and qualify for the Call of Duty Championship, presented by Xbox tournament.

The event, which took place at the famous ESL Arena in Cologne, Germany featured teams from UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Netherlands and Sweden all vying to out-play their peers to secure a coveted spot along with the best Call of Duty® gamers the world over.

Gamers can catch all the highlights live on the Microsofte Xbox Live Dashboard or on the Call of Duty website. The highlights include exclusive interviews with David Vonderhaar, Game Design Director from award-winning studio Treyarch – the makers of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and all the teams taking part over the weekend.
