Warface Sneak Peek (10/2 through 10/17) adds new environments, soldiers, and modes.
As development of Crytek‘s free-to-play first person shooter Warface continues, a new “sneak peek” phase begins Wednesday. This development phase will see the last wipe of character data for closed beta participants, who will all be a part of the sneak peek phase. The “sneak peek” phase will last from October 2nd through October 17th, at which point the pre-open beta will commence. Interested players should apply to be a tester through the Warface website.
Warface will be a class-based FPS featuring a wide range of game modes, from classic team deathmatchs to innovative new Storm and Destruction modes. Destruction mode itself will be unveiled for the first time during the Warface sneak peek phase, which promises to innovate on classic capture and hold gameplay mechanics. Players may choose between four different classes: rifleman, sniper, medic, and engineer. Each class has its role, so a balanced team will be the key to victory. As it is an online game, players can expect constantly updating content with varying degrees of time commitment.
Matchmaking for the game will occur through Warface’s own social hub called GFACE. GFACE is being developed in order to incorporate the very best of social networking technology to allow players to seamlessly interact with other players whether they are in-game or not.
Many more improvements are set to release with the sneak peek phases, including a new environment based on China, female soldiers, five daily co-op missions (previous phases had only three), and a tutorial system. Crytek also plans to test out its in-game store for the first time during this period, so stay tuned to see what sorts of things can be purchased to enhance your Warface experience. The development team is also hard at work on localizing the game to French, German, and Turkish-speaking regions; these localized versions should come out about the same time as the full-game releases in English.
Warface has been announced for release on PC with an Xbox 360 version planned to release later in 2014.
