Warface Trailer Travels Around the World

Blackwood, the supposed main antagonists in the Free-To-Play shooter Warface need to be stopped from around the world.

The new trailer for Warface might give us a hint on what to expect in the triple-A, Free-to-Play, First Person Shooter in terms of story and environments to explore. The game is set in the "near future" with government conspiracies and terrorism getting out of control. The main antagonist in this game is a shadowy organization known as "Blackwood," which seems to have bases around the world. Players will have to engage in violent gun battles with Blackwood troops to win missions, or just engage in classic deathmatch style sessions with friends.

The trailer for Warface shows off three possible areas to play sessions in. Each themed to a crime Blackwood is performing behind the backs of modern civilization: Providing lethal weapons of mass destruction to the 'wrong hands'; rallying terrorists in the Middle-East to strike at military bases; and performing inhuman, biological experiments on innocents in South America. Warface will provide constantly updated Player versus Environment challenges in these regions through cooperative missions.

Warface is meant to offer a "cinematic experience with next gen visuals, AI and physics based on Crytek's CryENGINE 3 game development solution." I'll admit that the visual effects and the physics are impressive for the trailer. The game looks has one of the best models I've seen with smooth animation (such as the scene with a soldier climbing up a wall). Blink and you might miss the physics engine in effect with splinters of a door flying everywhere when an explosive device is detonated. Warface will also bring in a "full set of class based Player Versus Player" system. Presumably similar to other class-based shooters where you acquire XP and level up your soldier as you complete missions with your buddies.

Unfortunately showing off Artificial Intelligence in trailers like Warface is like showing off how you got a big-O of 'n' for your collision with bullets[x] hitting model[y] to system nerds like me. Still, Warface seems pretty popular. It might only be available for now in Russia, but it has over 2 million users playing in the game. Warface also won Best Game, Best Graphics at the Russian KRI Awards, and the Gamescom 2012 award.
