I am like everyone else I am very excited for the year of 2014, which is already shaping up to be one of gaming’s biggest years. Some of the games on this list don’t even have announced dates but the expectation is there and people are excited to get their hands on some of the hottest titles, from Watch_Dogs to Titanfall, this is my list of what games I want the most.
Watch_Dogs: One of the biggest surprises of the year was the unexpected delay of the highly anticipated Ubisoft game that was originally intended for release on launch day for the next-gen systems. Ubisoft decided to make a bold move and delay it to spring and polish it even more and why upset I have to wait I’m glad they did, especially to improve the rough looking current-gen version.
The thought of traversing an open-world Chicago with the ultimate control over technology is one of the many reason for me to be excited. Also the opportunity to walk around and dive into other peoples lives by using your hacking skills is very intriguing and I am interested in seeing how it will tie into the main story which has been kept mainly secret.
The Division: What is there to say about this game from Ubisoft? A huge open-world New York brought to its knees by a wide spread virus, in which players can explore with other friends in an MMO type setting. The PvP scenarios are interesting and I wonder how the main campaign story will be integrated with the multiplayer because of its focus of online. Another exciting aspect of the game is the weather physics and how they will affect the environments. Only some instances of game play have been shown, but they have already amazed me.
The Evil Within: Now only does this game excited because of its director Shinji Mikami being involved, but also because its promised as bring true survival-horror back to gaming. The demos shown give a sense of dread and fear to the player as he must sneak past overbearing enemies and if caught feel their wrath. Its also amusing that the player can choose different play styles from stealth to action if they choose, but with consequences. Over the months the story has trickled through, taking place in an asylum where great darkness has taken over and transporting the main protagonist. I am a huge sucker for horror games and this promises to be a great new entry in the genre.
Destiny: Its no secret that I am a huge Bungie fan, but the fact that they are now releasing their first new IP since Halo and that its an open-world science fiction RPG game has me sold. The mythology behind the universe is wonderful and the opportunity to explore the ravaged Earth and space with friends sounds exciting. The game play shown at VGX offered more insight into what to expect and I was satisfied. The number of enemies to face from different races with their own history is classic Bungie and I can’t wait to learn more about the world they have created. Since the game is online only I am curious to see how the campaign story will play out.
