Earlier today publisher Kalypso Media
and developer Realmforge Studios released a series of riveting screenshots from their upcoming action-RPG titled “DARK”. The screenshots are intended to give viewers a sense of the characters and the dark environments in the game and also show off DARK’s unique 3D shell shaded art.
Slated for a 2013 release on console and PC, DARK is a third person action game with RPG elements in which the player controls a vampire protagonist . In his quest to uncover the secrets of the GeoForge Corporation, the anti-hero must use a combination of stealth and vampiric power in order to trail his enemies and dispose of them as quietly as possible in stunningly rendered 3D environments including castles, museums and nightclubs.
As a stealth game, the AI will be both powerful and intelligent, allowing the tables to turn on the vampire at any moment in his fight with ghouls, police officers and elite special forces. As such, a player must learn to master their skills in evasion and combat in order to take their foes unaware and defeat them with incredible powers.
As the player’s prowess in evasion and combat increases, the RPG elements of DARK will become apparent. The protagonist will gain access to new vampiric powers that will allow them to more efficiently cut down their foes and remain unobserved, with unlockable powers including strong melee attacks and the ability to turn into a puff of smoke in order to outwit enemies. DARK is also intended to have a strong focus on story, with the secrets of GeoForge being explored through the protagonist’s conversations with various NPCs as the game progresses.
