PlayStation Vita Price Drop In Japan

PlayStation Vita Price Drop In Japan

playstation-vita-picOn February 18th, at around 2:00 AM Eastern Time, Sony made a special announcement regarding the PlayStation Vita.

In Japan, the PlayStation Vita is getting a price cut. For both the 3G and Wi-Fi PlayStation Vita models it will cost just a bit under 20,000 Yen.

Right now, at this moment, this price cut is only relevant for in Japan, but as you probably heard, on Wednesday, February 20th, he long awaited Sony event billed “the future of PlayStation” will finally be unveiled. Obviously, this probably means a PlayStation 4/Orbis announcement, but that doesn’t mean that’s the only thing that will be announced.

A PlayStation Vita price drop could, realistically, be announced as well. The 20,000 Yen in Japan translates to 215 dollars in the United States, 140 Pounds in England, and 160 Euros for the rest of Europe. So, if there is a price drop announced at the event I’d expect it to be, at least in the United States, to be priced at 199.

We’ll just have to wait and see if everybody else around the world will get a price drop as well. The “Future of PlayStation” is less than 48 hours away. As it is, right now, Japan is the only one getting a price drop on PlayStation Vita’s. Hopefully, this means more Vita’s will get out there in the wild. It’s a heck of a system that definitely deserves to be played.
