After weeks of trailers and screenshots, Developer Spiders Studio today unveiled the combat trailer for their upcoming game Mars War Logs.
Mars War Logs is a cyberpunk RPG that puts players in the role of Roy Temperance. Through Roy, players will explore a planet devastated by a cataclysm that occurred over a century ago which has made water the most valuable material on the planet. In this future, companies fight for control of the precious liquid in a landscape filled with mutants, zealots and Martian creatures that can measure over twelve meters long.
As seen in the trailer, players will be thrown into this conflict where they will need to utilise their skills in order to best their enemies. Players can attack with melee or ranged weapons and may also make use of stealth strikes and mines.
Players will also have the option to utilise powerful Technomant arts that allow Roy to manipulate energy and throw lightning bolts.As they progress through the game and kill enemies, gamers will unlock experience that can be used to unlock skills in one of three trees: Technomant, Renegade and Combat.
This will allow the player to specialise in their field of choice. Raw power won’t be the sole decider in fights however, with players having to use their wits in order to defeat shield bearing soldiers or thick skinned aliens.
As players explore, they will discover options that will benefit them in combat. Roy can uncover various items and components that can be crafted into an array of armour and weapons that will give him an advantage over his enemies. In addition, players will be able to interact with the colonists they meet and make allies that will help Roy during battles.
Mars War Logs is currently slated for a Spring 2013 release, and will be available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
