Starting from November in the UK, you will be able to pick up the Acer Aspire 7600U from store shelves. It is an all-in-one Windows 8 touch screen PC, and looks really good with a glass and transparent resin frame which supports the huge 27 inch LCD screen within.
Cables are managed by a stainless steal stand at the back, which supports the hefty unit whilst also making sure it keeps clean and futuristic. The stand also offers some nifty features including being able to tilt the screen 30 to 80 degrees with one hand due to a spring mechanism. A stand is available for the unit that will allow it to tilt to 0 degrees for an impressive multi-touch play area. It can also rotate vertically of course if you are into reading e-books and the like.
The Acer Aspire 7600U will not be cheap, and will cost from an eye watering £1,499.
For that, you get a 27 inch edge-to-edge touch screen, offering full HD at 1,920×1,080 pixels, supporting 64 simultaneous touches, an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB's of RAM, and an Nvidia Geforce GT 640 graphics card.
You will also find a slot loaded Blu-Ray drive on the side, 2 HDMI slots (one in/one out) to connect devices to and from the PC, and an option for a SSD drive for fast loading of Windows and programs (stated 1.5 second boot time) a multi-card reader, and of course, plenty of USB ports!
Other features include a full HD webcam for internet chatting via Skype, etc, which also supports hand gestures, a TV tuner, for when Blu-Ray films are not cutting it, and NFC (Near Field Communication) support for transferring of data from PC to phone and vice versa.
In terms of actual hardware power, I would expect a lot more for the price, but the Acer Aspire 7600U does look pretty damn good.
Until I see the Acer Aspire 7600U in person, I cannot fathom how 1,920×1,080 pixels would look on such a large screen, especially if the device is to be used close up as a touch screen would suggest.
It does however have a VESA mountkit, enabling it to be fitted to a wall and such.
A cheaper version is to be released also, the Acer Aspire 5600U which will start at a cheaper £799, with a 23 inch full HD screen, but only supporting 10 simultaneous touches at any one time.
