Publisher Alternative Software have announced that pre-orders of their new game Rugby League Live 2 are greatly exceeding expectations. This has lead to large scale retailers setting up midnight releases in stores in North England, marking the first midnight launch of the Rugby League series. The managing director of Alternative Software attributes the “buoyant” sale numbers to the company’s targeting of fans through social media, and is positive that rugby fans will greatly enjoy the game.
Rugby League Live 2 has undergone a major overhaul, making it distinct from earlier iterations in the series. These changes are aimed at more effectively showcasing the speed and creative strategies of the real Rugby League, with over one hundred teams from around the globe included in the roster. The realism is further heightened by the use of commentary from the two rugby announcers Phil Gould and Andrew Voss.
The developers of Rugby League Live 2 have created a dynamic tackling system and made tactical passing and strategic defence a possibility. These changes are aimed at capturing the true feel of rugby, and are greatly benefited by the graphical detail of the game; players will become covered with mud and sweat as the game progresses, while the pitch will also show signs of damage in areas where action is highest. The Commercial Director of the Europe Super League feels that these additions to the game “bring all the hard hitting action” of rugby straight into the player’s room.
Rugby League Live 2 will also have a large multiplayer focus, with players undertaking co-operative championships and various cups with up to 4 players per side. Players will also be able to use the “Footy Factory” mode to create customised players and teams which can be shared with other players. In addition, players can undertake a huge 10 year career mode in which they must sign up sponsors, hire coaches and negotiate player contracts and training times.
Rugby League will launch on November 30 on both Play Station 3 and Xbox 360
