The critically acclaimed Arkedo Series will be newly available for all PS3 owners this October, according to developers Arkedo and Sanuk Games.
The initial announcment for the games was made roughly 14 months ago, but unforseen issues and delays stopped it from coming to us sooner. Sanuk Games’ Yan Marchal said “Sony America demanded that the 3 games be grouped into one offering, as opposed to being sold individually, like we did in Europe. This required a little bit of extra work, and at the time we didn’t have the bandwidth for it, therefore we postponed the release for a while.”
“The approval took me by surprise," Marchal continued, “I was almost not expecting it anymore. I would like to thank everybody at Sony America who supported us and argued in our favor throughout the twists and turns of the system. We’re glad we can finally bring these little jewels to America!”
The Arkedo series includes 3 old school arcade games, bringing back some of the classic old 8 bit style.
The first game is called JUMP! – Its an 8-bit platformer where you have to grab a bunch of bombs before they explode. All the while avoiding bats, spike pits, and other worldy 8-bit creatures trying to hinder your progress. It's a difficult game, voiding the continue option all together, meaning when you die, you need to start all over again.
The second game is SWAP! – A matching tetris style game where you need to clear blocks before they disappear at the top of the screen. You can create combos, collect bonus powers, and time freezers to aid you in your attempts to finish the five worlds that are included with the game. After that, you can try your luck in challenge mode.
The last game is PIXEL! – Another platformer where you control a cat through his nighttime adventures in a beautiful world. The game looks great in HD, and will surprise you in more ways then one.
The Arkedo series first surfaced on Xbox Live Indy Arcade, and after recieving glowing reviews caught the eye of Sony, and will now be available in one great package on October 16th for the low price of $5.99
