Assassin's Creed IV

After an array of leaks over the past week, Ubisoft today officially announced Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag along with a accompanying Trailer

Assassin's Creed IVUbisoft have been working on the game for over two years, and according to the publisher, this work has lead to the creation of “the most diverse and seamless Assassin’s Creed world” of any game in the franchise. The series is known for hopping through time, and this iteration places players at the start of the 18th century in the “Golden Age” of the pirates, before the events of Assassin’s Creed 3.

This time around players will be put in the shoes of one Edward Kenway, an British ex-privateer who takes up piracy as the Spanish War draws to a close. Edward is drawn into the conflict between the Templars and Assassins, along the way meeting and gaining the respect of infamous pirates such as Blackbeard and Charles Vane.

Black Flag is intended to build upon the the popular gameplay of the previous games and will feature a sizable open world made up of over 50 locations in the West Indies. Players will have access to an array of weaponry from the era and will also be able to make use of stealth and daring to take out their foes. The most prominent feature to be emphasised in Assassin’s Creed IV however, is the naval gameplay from AC3. This time around, players will be able to customise their ship as well as search for sunken treasure and loot shipwrecks.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be released in the UK on the 1st of November. Currently the title is confirmed for PS4, PS3, Wii U, Xbox360 and PC. Ubisoft have also confirmed that the game will be available on “other next generation consoles,” likely referring to the next iteration of the Xbox.
