One of the world’s most recognized names in gaming, Atari has announced its upcoming lineup of new mobile games from some of the industry’s most iconic franchises.
Following the recent launch of Super Bunny Breakout with Zynga, the upcoming scheduled release includes Outlaw, a modern twist on a classic Atari arcade hit. The game will be coming to iOS in November and first-ever iOS releases of the blockbuster RollerCoaster Tycoon and D&D themed games with Dungeons & Dragons: Warbands. Atari will also be launching its first social casino experience with Atari Casino, which features several mini-game integrations of its popular game IP into blackjacks, slots and more.
“We’ve spent this year focused on developing mobile games based on some of Atari’s most iconic and enduring franchises,” said Jim Wilson, CEO of Atari. “Our upcoming lineup should make clear Atari’s strategy to work with the strengths of our key franchises and offer out expanding global audience of mobile gamers a collection of accessible and fun consumer experiences.”
Atari’s mobile gaming features include:
· RollerCoaster Tycoon (iOS and Android, Q1 2013)
Based on the original best-selling classic management simulator which has sold over 13 million copies worldwide, RollerCoaster Tycoon is headed to iOS for the first time. Players can create their very own custom theme park, design coasters and build attractions to gain new guests and increase revenue. Gamers get the chance to choose from pre-designed templates or design their very own, custom and unique creations from scratch with the Roller Coaster Editor. With new features like sharing designs with friends the new version of RollerCoaster Tycoon offers a fun and great experience with long-time fans and newcomers will enjoy.
· Dungeons & Dragons: Warbands (iPad-$2.99, December; Steam, Facebook and Android coming soon)
Dungeons & Dragons: Warbands is a turn-based strategy game taking place in the Forgotten Realms, and is the first official D&D title to ever be released on an iOS device. Players can choose from four factions; build their very own Warbands from hundreds of different units, and battle others to ensure victory for their faction and fight to take control of Zhentil Keep. A single player campaign allows gamers to practice their tactics and unlock new units.
· Atari Casino (iOS – FREE, November)
Become the next high roller of a slick, brand new casino and try out your own luck in the Atari-themed slot machines, black jack and the combining of original Atari arcade mini-games. Highly addictive social gameplay will have fans of both Atari and casinos racking up the chips in countless hours of social gaming fun.
· Outlaw (iOS – FREE, November)
Players can experience a classic franchise from the Atari 2600 library as a touch-screen shooter, combining colorful hand-drawn graphics with original western themes of the original game blended with an expanded arsenal of weapons and smooth touch-screen controls. Gunslingers draw against bandits causing mayhem throughout different towns, using highly accurate touch-screen aiming to achieve headshots or disarm opponents for extra points.
