Atari and Frontier Developments focus on RollerCoaster Tycoon 3

Two agreements have recently been signed by Cambridge based Frontier Developments and Atari. Both of the agreements are based on a little known construction and management series called RollerCoaster Tycoon and to be specific the third entry.

It's fine I guess but I would have added fire or at least a staight drop.

It’s fine I guess but it just looks too safe.

These new agreements are part of Atari’s future economic plans which allows Frontier Development to distribute RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 on PC and Mac as well as other Atari products. Frontier Development is also allowed to distribute these products online as well as on tablets and games consoles.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 was originally released back in November 3rd 2004 in Europe by Frontier Development actually. The game sees you again in charge of your very theme park.  By in charge that means that besides building as big a death-trap pretending to be a rollercoaster as possible you also have to worry about other things like enough chairs, toilets and food facilities.

This entry also includes a new sandbox mode which allows you to build whatever you want which worrying about money or time. With enough time and pacience you too can mountians and waterfalls out of level terain and then put a coaster through it.

By making this agreement Atari have become the first third party to have its products distributed by Frontier and speaking of them the CEO of Frontier David Braben has said that

“These agreements represent excellent progress as we continue to implement our self-publishing and online commerce plans.  They will help accelerate our plans to grow new revenue streams from self-published and online commerce.”
