I won’t get into details here on whether stealth-based games are appealing to me like that, but I do like them for touching on challenges I like in video games. I like exploring in dark corridors, carefully planning my steps to avoid attention and not just how to take down an obstacle, but take it down so it doesn’t alert even more dangerous obstacles. Square Enix’s new Hitman: Absolution game might deliver that experience, but UK gamers could show off their face in the game by playing Hitman: Sniper Challenge.
Hitman: Sniper challenge is a standalone experience available to anyone that pre-orders Hitman: Absolution which lets players take on challenges for prizes. Players can participate in various sniper challenges for prizes ranked in tiers (daily, weekly, or monthly), and show off their rank in online leader boards to their friends or rivals. Skilled players will have to find ways of multiplying their scores, discover secret extras, or upgrade their sniping gear while they take down their targets. Once Hitman: Absolution comes out, players can port upgrades from Hitman: Sniper Challenge to give their Agent 47 an edge.

The ultimate sniper in Hitman: Sniper Challenge – the UK’s Ultimate Assassin – will be given the grand prize of immortality. No, this isn’t a deal with the devil, but being immortalized in a future Hitman game and also presented with a Golden Joystick at Future Publishing’s annual Golden Joystick Awards in October 2012. The Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by gamers to determine the best game each year, which are usually given to the best publishers or developers. But if you get enough headshots and find enough secrets in Hitman: Sniper Challenge, you could get yourself a Golden Joystick.
Hitman: Sniper Challenge is a promotional game available to anyone that pre-order’s Hitman: Absolution. Hitman: Sniper Challenge is available now on Xbox LIVE or Playstation Network, and will be available on Steam this August.
