GOG.com the digital DRM free website have announced that Carmageddon: Max Pack is now available to download for $9.99 (around £6.00) on their website. Carmageddon is bundled with the expansion “The Splat Pack”. The Splat pack expansion features 18 new tracks, 15 new cars and many new environments.
Carmageddon is a port of the 1997 racing game which combines normal racing mechanics with the oppurtunity to slay hundreds of innocent pedestrians, destroy their opponents and eliminate police forces. Carmageddon is one of the earliest examples of sandbox 3D driving games.
In Carmageddon races are completed by completing the course as one would a normal racing game, wrecking all other race cars, or killing all pedestrians on the level. In the game players take the wheel as Max Damage in a mission to destroy other characters in the game. Carmageddon the game was widely acclaimed for its design, controls and fun gameplay. A new title in the series, Carmageddon: Reincarnation is currently in development by game creators Stainless Games.
GOG.com have also announced their promotional weekend that will start this Friday and last throughout the weekend. Gamers can purchase many series of games which were hugely successful. Gamers can also pick up all 3 Thief games, Thief Gold, Thief 2: The Metal Age and Thief 3: Deadly Shadows for just $3.99 each. GOG.com have also promoted the Square Enix promotional event this weekend which offers 60% a number of games series including the Deus Ex series, Anachronox and the Legacy of Kain series this weekend only. GOG.coms promotional weekend runs from the 28th September to the 30th September.
